HOW TO HELP
Most people are aware of the tragic budget cuts imposed on our public schools, however many do not realize how it impacts each classroom. Teachers are having to do more with less; less money, fewer supplies, fewer equipment, fewer books, and even less support.
Some teachers can't use their printers because they can't purchase ink cartridges. Others have old equipment that need updating; computers that are so old they cannot even run the software programs necessary to stay up to date. Some don't even have enough paper, dictionaries or calculators for our children. They don't have the basics.
Next to parents, teachers are the biggest influence in shaping our children's futures. We can all help them to get the supplies and materials they desperately need.
In 2002, the owners of Village Properties, Renee Grubb and Ed Edick, established The Village Properties Teacher's Fund (Teacher's Fund). The non-profit organization was established to assist local teachers purchase the supplies, materials and equipment they need.
Each year Renee and Ed donate at least $25,000 to the fund. As of March 2009, the Teacher's Fund has awarded over $600,000 to over 1400 K - 8 classrooms. This would not have been possible without the donations received from people in our community, businesses and Village Properties agents.
On average, the Teacher's Fund was receiving over $25,000 a month in requests for grades K - 8. Due to the magnitude of the most recent budget cuts Village Properties has expanded the Teacher's Fund so that teachers from grades 9 - 12 can also make requests.
While we may not be able to solve the budget crisis, we can make a difference, one classroom at a time, and we need your help. 100% of all donations go directly to the teachers. All expenses, advertising and administrative costs are paid separately by Village Properties.
